Top eight qualification for F&H duo at the Asian GP

F&H Racing's Henry Jacobi and Adam Sterry qualified seventh and eighth for the Asian GP, twelfth round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Semarang on the Indonesian island of Java.

All competitors faced a strenuous day in mid-thirties heat and were clearly aware of the need to conserve energy during Qualifying as they face two long thirty-five minute points-scoring races tomorrow. Jacobi also had to learn the track, having been forced to sit out this race last year after developing a fever following a midweek mosquito bite. Tenth in practice, he cleverly used the wide track with multiple lines to briefly advance into the top six on the opening lap of the Qualifying race but, with start-gate choice not of paramount importance, wisely settled into a safe rhythm on the slippery well-watered track to come home seventh as he discovered the markers on the numerous large jumps.

Henry Jacobi: “Finally I got a good start in fifth position; I was leading the pack when we entered the first corner but I went too wide! As they had watered the track before our race I was a little cautious during the first few laps and some guys passed me; I didn’t find a good rhythm but seventh is OK for the gate pick. I will try to race for the top five again tomorrow.”

Adam Sterry, seventh in practice, chased his teammate home in eighth place after running wide in turn one and having to advance from an initial twelfth.

Adam Sterry: “I felt better on this track this weekend and got a very good start in the qualifying race but I ended up going wide in the first turn coming outside the top ten! I rode consistently to finish eighth, which is OK for tomorrow.”

Bud Racing Kawasaki's Mitchell Harrison and Brian Moreau each started outside the top ten but got stronger as the race went on to qualify eleventh and twelfth.
